In the Beginning....

G'Day...

Today is the first day of the rest of my blog.  I have fretted over whether or not to have a blog, given the things that can be said and comments that can be made about what I said.  I have decided to do so and will post as the weight of the world moves me.  There is a lot to be said and ideas to convey that traverse many interests and events.  Maybe this will help to clear out the overload of stuff in my head.  Kind of a garbage collection routine.

During the days, months, and hopefully years I will post about current events, my interests, and try to link in some other blogs that I follow.  I watch world events and not ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.  I want to know what is happening in the world and not what the news organizations want me to know.

I work as a computer programmer and manage IT projects.  I work in several languages including C#, TSQL, and Visual Foxpro (xBase).  I know, what is Foxpro?  I also have started building web pages as part of my current project.  I have worked professionally as a DBA and continue to do my own database work.  Phone and tablet apps intrigue me.

I think in 3 dimensions and that has allowed me to pick up object oriented programming pretty easily.  Once you get past the proprietary jargon, that is.  Languages are easy to follow if you understand syntax.  Most languages share common bonds that define how you move through the code.  I have converted apps from VFP to Cobol, C++ to Cobol, VFP to C#, Cobol back to C, etc.

I come from a family that has had firearms.  I grew up with rifles, shotguns, and pistols.  I was a Missile Fire Controlman in the Navy and have an affinity for the 1911 pistol and high performance weaponry.  Firearms is a very touchy subject with most people, whether pro or con to the subject.  I find that talking to like minded people is OK.  The rest, I don't bring up the subject with.

Politically, I am a Constitutionalist.  I believe that the country is better off following the laws as laid down by the Constitution.  In the eyes of many that is an extreme view.  However, there are those who believe as I do and I am not new to this way of thinking.

So there you have it.  I have traveled the world while in the Navy.  I stand on the side of gun ownership.  I am politically incorrect.  And I will not bend over for the government, they work for me don't you know.

Fair winds and following seas.

Chief.
